Precisionism

New Hope Station (1932) Ralston Crawford

  • Precisionism was started up after world war 1 in the USA, but its term became known in the 1920s
  • It was strongly influenced by cubism and futurism.
  • It showed themes of modernisation and industrialisation within american landscapes, the art itself was made from sharply defined, precise, geometrical forms.

Likes and dislikes

  • I like how I can best relate this art movement to my future designs.
  • I like how it draws inspiration from industrial buildings as it indicates the growing civilsation.
  • I slightly dislike how it requires perspective to be extremely precise.
